Apple Maps has Ads now
I'd that's the premium experience you are paying for? (although tbh android flagships are just as expensive.)
Kinda glad I jumped that ship earlier this year.

Downtown Credo has great coffee in Orlando! Qreate (sp?) has some wild combos, too. I tried a matcha tonic there that kinda changed my life.
Oh yeah fuck Apple, too!
PLEASE BRO JUST ONE MORE AD BRO THE LINE HAS TO KEEP GOING UP OR I DONT GET MY BONUS BRO
Use Comaps https://www.comaps.app/download/
Already done that when I still had my iPhone. Love how fast it is and that contributions go to OSM and not Apples Fork of it.
Its really fantastic work but I am yet to navigate anywhere with it without looking up the coordinates on Google maps.
Why not?
Yes, it isn't really able to take you to a specific numbered address, just an 'address block' on a street ... but that's enough to get you close, and then you just have to not be an idiot, use your eyeballs, and find the correct address number. (Believe me, it's possible. I delivered pizza back in the day before navigation devices existed at all. Had to look up where a street was on a paper map, and then you were up to your own devices to find the address number on that street. And ... I managed it just fine 99.9% of the time.)
When I put in an address it directs me straight to the right building. Sometimes I have to go on a place's website to find that address but most of the time I can search by name.
Does your area need better Open Street Map data? Might need to contribute 🙂. I tend to write down anything that didn't work so I can go and update it, but it's clear there are many people in my area contributing.
When going to a residential street address, it usually doesn't know where exactly on the street that address is.
Interesting! I know if you look back at changes in my country you can see where someone has done a massive automated load of buildings (addresses as well as the actual shape of buildings) from data published by a government department, so I guess I'm quite privileged to have such good data. I've corrected some but it's been at the level of it tagging a garage instead of the house, it's always close to correct. The main issue I have is searching up a business by name, they are only in there 2/3 of the time, but I go and add them if they aren't.
I feel very lucky!
You and I have a vastly different experience then. The last time I used it it planned the route 10 miles from my destination.
But if you put in the coordinates, it works.
Well shit, I do that with google maps anyway (only one that seems to work decently for me, but they don't need to know specifically where I’m going.)
Does it have the “avoid highways” option? I have an EV now and I started to avoid highways as a result, and then I realized its just so much more peaceful and hardly takes more time, and now all my driving avoids highways.
Yes it does.
Well you cant really complain, keep contributing to OSM for yourself and anyone using it
I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing out that it is close to a Google maps replacement but it's not there yet. If you are expecting to open it up, type in an address and get where you are going, you are going to be disappointed. It's just the reality of it.
Looks like a great osm app thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this
Jumped ship to Android? Google Maps that already has ads too?
LineageOS + CoMaps It really is a joy to use.
