Ok, I'm confused. A hot dog is just a sausage in a bun, no?

If you mean that vegan wieners/frankfurters are bad, than that's the opposite of my experience. I enjoy them more than I do other types of vegan sausage (although that may have something to do with growing up in a post-soviet country and thus being constantly exposed to Doctorskaya sausage)

Doctorskaya sausage looks like it's basically diet bologna? Sausage can be something much smaller, like a bratwurst.

And a bratwurst does not become a hot dog because it's in a bun.
