And he's too embarrassed to admit it, smh.
The lying guard is giving away the truthful guard’s card number.
The right guy, presumably the liar said "the other only tell truth", then it should be a lie.
And both said she may ask one question, which can't be true and a lie at the same time.
So they are both occasional liars and whatever they say is no help at all.
Saying you may ask one question can be interpreted many ways
It could be permission, a command, or just a prediction
The truth teller could be giving a command, the rules of the interaction. The liar could be predicting you'll ask more than one question and lying about it
I think you got them on the first, but if the liar would answer more than one question, while the truth teller will only answer one, "she may ask one question" probably falls under a lie
If we assume "you may ask us one question" implicitly entails "and get an answer from me"... Yeah, maybe.
If the guard that lied started with 4 or 5 it may have worked, I doubt she knows how to validate card numbers on the fly.
This reminds me of the time my hotel rewards membership was shared to a timeshare and the guy who called me would not take no for an answer and was practically begging me to sign up. He tried to convince me he had all my information already to gain my trust by doing the “your credit card starts with number 5” trick.
Just try to buy something on it?
You assume the dungeon has WiFi or mobile signal.
We are in 2026 I'm pretty sure there are vending machines and ATMs there now

No, no. I want to hear more about the vending machines and ATMs in dungeons.
Are they the actual loot or do they teleport the stuff from a safer place?
Do the ATMs hand out cash or coins?
Can I get some instant healing for a fee when running away from monsters?
Is the fee subject to dynamic pricing?
Actually, how high is the margin? Is there a wizard that casually TPs to compete with a slightly lower prices?
Are there reverse vending machines to sell the loot without coming back to town?
Do some people just live in the dungeons, getting whatever they need from the vending machines?
Can the monsters use the vending machines?\
Probably some underpaid employee comes every week to refill the machines
Whether it's coin or cash I guess it will depend on which ATM and which bank you're using
No you can't get instant healing currently since that machine was broken and we are waiting for the IT department to send a technician
Since the adventurers guild is a bunch of communist losers the prices are legally fixed by the government after countless strikes and demonstrations
Every few levels there's an old wizard running a kiosk where you can get stuff cheaper
No reverse vending machine, the government deemed it illegal under monopoly/antitrust laws as whoever gets to control the selling machines can control the entire dungeon economy, but you can some times sell to a wizards kiosk and if you found coins or money you can deposit them at an ATM
The dungeons are still dangerous so nobody wants to live there but I would imagine some small communities or commercial centres and motels in some safe levels
And yes anyone can use a vending machine if they can pay this is capitalism after all

I don't plan on watching Vending Machine based on the reviews I've heard, but My Ridiculous Reincarnation has a similar theme; I've seen it and it's a good comedy
The first season was pretty good, second wasnt great but watchable, the third season really dropped off in quality.
If it doesn't have a mobile signal, why would I even go inside?
Well it has credit cards so why wouldn't it?
It may have been set up in the decades where cc exist but WiFi wasn't commonplace.
I would be shocked if the carriers hadnt installed an active DAS just to ensure they meet regulatory coverage compliance, but at the very least the dungeon management would want to be implementing an effective wireless solution to ensure dungeon users are happy and staff can have access to operational information. They could also use it for tracking staff and monitoring dungeon utilisation.
Just write down both responses and try both

I think the original challenge was that you must choose one guard to pose your one question to. Not one question to both guards.
Silly girl, she forgot to ask for the expiration date! Rookie mistake. She'll never be able to use that card now, not unless she wants to brute force it.
