Two unvaccinated people die of measles in Pennsylvania

Two unvaccinated individuals have died of measles in Pennsylvania, state health officials announced on Tuesday. The deaths are the first in the state in 35 years and have been announced just one day after Maryland declared a measles outbreak in three counties.

On Monday, Maryland declared a measles outbreak in St Mary’s, Carroll and Cecil counties. There are 31 confirmed cases in the state. New York urged residents to get vaccinated on Monday, citing an uptick in cases in rural parts of the state around the capital, central and western regions.

The news comes just one week after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released data showing the largest ever one-year increase in requests for vaccine exemptions – the process by which parents can request not to have their child vaccinated and still send them to school. The same data showed a long, slow decline in vaccination rates, particularly for measles.

The news also comes after Donald Trump and his health secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, held a press conference in which they linked vaccines to autism, a decades-old claim from the anti-vaccine movement that has been repeatedly debunked by scientific studies.

I'm curious whether or not this happened in Amish country. Lancaster is known for their Amish population.

No mention of the ages. Wanna bet that they're children? I could be wrong, but there's something weird about not mentioning the ages. Most pubs do that nowadays.

Most of the state does not have herd immunity and we're starting schools.

But we're back to this bullshit with covid...death is not the only negative outcome. 1 in 10 measles will result in brain infection, encephalitis, brain damage, about 60,000 kids go blind from measles worldwide every year.

Even if these two specifically weren't children, children are at growing risk:

Science deniers are murderers. Science is not infallible, but it is our best method of approaching the truth by minimizing biases and verifying results independently.

Vaccines do not cause autism, vaccines save lives. The earth is not flat. Evolution is observable.

I hope humanity fixes its brain very soon. Wrong beliefs are causing innocent people to die.

Maybe if they´d accused Republican operatives of rape, we'd know more personal details about them.

Hope it wasn't kids, no big lose unless it was children.
