Say whatever you like about those red state dipshits

We’re all talking about Quebec, which we couldn’t accept without violating our own charter

But then having veto power on us making trade deals is fucked

Either option is the death of Canada, and they’re not subtle either.

They also wanted control over mineral extraction, ffs. It's like King Ludwig and the Belgian Congo are back.

As I pointed out, they aren't the demands you make of a state or even a vassal, they're demands you make of a colony.

For a few more, try konjugator.reverso.net. It’s only conjugation though.

I find spaced reptition of individual forms is the best way to learn conjugations. Use an app like anki or just write the damn things out on index cards. The KOFI series of conjugation decks for Anki is excellent.

I do best under very traditional methods, to the point that I probably repeat “amo, amas, amat” or “soy, eres, es, somos, sois, son” to myself a couple of times a year, as my primary method of remembering conjugations, but this is just a reference for every possible conjugation of any verb that you can use to make flash cards or whatever other method works.

sh.itjust.works

Yup. It's good to have that sort of "written down" in your brain like that, but you want individual pathways to each form eventually. If you're just learning as a hobby and are waiting until you're thrown into immersion to really learn, I guess it's not bad.

It doesn’t become less effective for me, as much as I don’t need it anymore as my language ability progresses, then rely on it again if my ability regresses. I’m a nonnative German teacher in Germany and while I don’t have to jog my memory for standard conjugations, if I learn a new verb that has a short i in present tense and a long a in preterite, I’ll still chant “singe, sang, gesungen” in my head. It’s just different learning styles.

Don’t worry you won’t see most Canadians anymore. We don’t like hanging with people that are cool with their child raping president anyhow.

We never talk about Canada. Knows a bunch about Canadian politics. Can you even remember what you just said?

I dunno, your president guy has been talking about annexing Canada a lot this term. And the reduced travel from Canada has been one of the topics in this werido "trade war" we seem to be in. So at least on a federal level it seems like y'all are talking about Canada.

That said, I think this meme is in reference to Trump's trade offer that would have allegedly weakened Canadian French somehow, which Trump refutes.

P.S. Lake America? Really? Might as well rename Lake Erie to Lake Creepy while he's at it.

P.P.S. The name “Ontario” is derived from the Huron word “Ontarí’io,” which means “great lake” or “beautiful water.”, so the province is named because of the lake(s) and not vice-versa. Here's more on that if anyone is interested.

I wish we kept our indigenous names. Tacoma or Tahoma means "Snow Covered Mountain." Waaaaay better than Mt. Rainier.

lemmy.world

You can blame Captain George Vancouver for that. Same for Mt. Baker and a whole bunch of stuff up the Pacific coast of British Columbia. It seems like if you ever even served George a sandwich you'd get a mountain or lake name after you by him.

Too much drama to invade/annex and I'm of a Canadian tribe. And no he won't rename the lakes, well maybe Superior as the Erie and Huron are native names and Michigan is a gimme.

I know the origin name of Ontario and we don't speak Huron we speak a version of Iroquois. If your gonna talk smack you best come correct.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyandot_language

I know my people better than you. Never speak for us, we can handle it.

-9

Buddy, I never claimed to know your people nor was I claiming to speak for you. Try not to be too delicate.

The line claiming the word is Huron is a direct quote from the National Museum of Great Lakes page that I hyperlinked. You got a problem with it then write them a letter.

I also posted a link to a Government of Canada page that says it came from an Iroquois word if that helps. I didn't specifically quote that though because I didn't want to confuse people. Ontarí’io "looks" more like Ontario than kanadario so I went with that for simplicity. History is messy and I didn't want to spend too much time trying to find which claim was more correct. Both the Huron and Iroquois words seem to exist and they are probably related, but I am not Huron, Iroquois, a linguist, or a historian. I just tried to do right and share both for anyone who's curious. Anyone who isn't curious would hopefully at least come away with "Ontario comes from an indigenous word", and that's a win in my book.

Try not to let my P.P.S. fun fact get you so worked up. I'm sharing here, not trying to "talk smack". Being a butt-hurt reactionary does not win us any non-indigenous friends. Phrases like "I know my people better than you" come off as needlessly aggressive and I personally try not to do stuff like that (except for that one time my neighbourhood got a cree/nehiyawewin name and I got into fights with people who thought it was too hard to pronounce). If you have better info then I think the best path is to share so people can learn.

You said "like we ever talk about quebec" and now you're moving the goalpost to "every day"? Those are two different thing.

Regardless, you're full of anger for some reason and looking for a fight dismissing and insulting everyone you're talking to. I'm here for conversation, not abuse. I'll leave you to it.

huh?

I don't wrap myself up in me being Native or the other nationalities I am. You seem to be stuck on it and projecting. Hows that working out for you?

For the manner in which you speak of being from a Canadian tribe while baring a remarkable ratio-losing comment history, I can't help but feel that this latest comment of yours carries some Dean Browning pedo party vibes.

Ad Hominem, when you can't articulate a decent argument you go off script that makes no sense.

I'm American, but very happy with how close we are from our Canadian brothers and sisters be them Anglophone or Francophone.

lol like we ever talk about quebec let alone canada down here.

...and...

As a Bruins fan...

Hydro-Québec powers a big chunk of Boston. When you're watching those Bruins game at TD Garden, 20% of that electricity is maple flavored, n'est-ce pas? Also the "TD" in TD Garden is "Toronto Dominion" bank from next door to Quebec in Ontario Canada.

Turn the power off, see how you you do maintaining them w/o sweet sweet USD...

and anglo/frankyphone, man you people are mental. I heard that shit way too much working w/ your country... So glad I'm out.

Sometimes I’ll talk about them. Like did you know the Canadians are the only team in nhl history to lose 10 to 0?

0

No idea, lol. Despite my nationality I never got hockey-pilled. Much to the detriment of my social life 😞.

No judgement here, and a complete aside to this post topic, but I find team sport fanaticism fascinating. I live close to two cities with competing professional sports teams, and people can get HEATED over it. I will never understand that. Like, most of those highly paid individuals aren't from the city their teams are based in. Heck, some aren't from the same country.

I guess it's similar to brand fanaticism? People have weird arguments about Apple vs Windows, Apple vs Android, PlayStation vs Xbox, etc. Like, ya got no stake in that fight dog. The success rate of these multimillion dollar entities does not reflect upon the personal qualities of any particular fan.

Don't read into my mad ramblings. I don't think being a fan, even a hardcore one, is bad. I just personally don't get it lol. I'm probably the one missing out in all this.
