Probably well paid by the oil and gas lobbyists to make that claim.

Yeah. We like to pretend we give the slightest shit about the environment whenever the "left" (center center center center right) is in power, the actual left never gets any significant power, and whenever it's Conservatives or the Racist Climate Denier Party there's not even any pretense.

Well no. No, not quite like in America, thankfully.

I mean you basically described the major positions of the Democrats (fake left, center right) and Republicans (racist and anti-environment)

Sort of, yes, but we have additional parties and a different way of doing things. While we do classically have two dominant parties sniping at each other, it's genuinely more diverse, arguably a better representative of "the people's will". Unfortunately the people's will is stupid high on right wing populism right now, so it's not really a great example of the benefits. If nothing else it's blissfully boring over here. (cough mostly cough)

I suppose you could stretch the US metaphor and say the Conservatives and " Progress " Party (said polybigots) are roughly like different wings/eras of the GOP or something. PP (hhehe) actively imitating/flirting with Trump style bs and more traditional GOP garbage before that, Conservatives being somewhat better at masking and profiling themselves as "responsible", which haha, shocker, means giving the rich all they want.

At the same time, China is betting on the Arctic shipping route despite warnings by environmental groups that growing traffic along the route will accelerate Arctic sea ice loss that is already driven by global warming, with devastating effects on nature and indigenous people.
