2 Phoenix police officers arrested and fired following violent, unreported traffic stop
Police say Officers Luis Vasquez Jr. and Antonio Felix stopped a vehicle on Aug. 5 at around 11:30 p.m. and proceeded to use force on a man and woman.
The traffic stop was not reported, and there was no body-worn camera activation, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
Both officers were arrested on several felony charges, including:
- Aggravated assault
- Aggravated robbery
- Kidnapping
- Felony assault involving a bound and otherwise physically restrained individual
- Threatening and intimidating
- Criminal damage
- Hindering prosecution
- Tampering with evidence

The only thing surprising to me is they actually are facing some repercussions. The article doesn't actually say they're fired though, just on leave and awaiting trial.
Also:
They've been doing this for a long time, and I doubt they're the only ones in the department. They just got cocky and sloppy because Trump is in office and there's no such thing as a law you can't buy your way out of anymore.
I think they just misunderstood that they need to have a lot of money to buy their way out, and cops (despite being overpaid and undertrained) don't make enough to qualify. You need a lot more zeroes on your supposed net worth.
Being cops only protects against so much.
I wonder if the victims knew someone important
Watched A Clockwork Orange years ago and thought at the time the most ridiculous part was when the two cops near the end turned out to be former murderers and rapist buddies of the protagonist.

I was fifteen or sixteen at the time in the 80's. Young in other words. It may be you grew up differently but at that time even though cops could be assholes they were not automatically assumed to be criminals. Quite the opposite.
