People making me very suicidal

NSFW

There's just no chance of having a decent life. I just don't have the things others take for granted. I have been trying to "self-improve" since 16 years old, with Khan Academy, and I got the badges for being a good listener, yet could never get past a simple word problem. All the things I could do, and classic word problem was where I got stopped.

Since early childhood, I could feel that something was wrong with me, different about me. I had a dream where I was kneeling infront of a floating cross, overwhelmed with guilt, and I just felt something was missing from me, and I didn't know why. I am not a cristian anymore by the way.

I could always see very far away, and I was more worried about the future than the present. I spent my childhood just staring at walls, crying, and thinking about things. I decided at some point that emotions were selfish, and I wanted to be like a robot, and just work towards whatever was right, but ended up feeling unmotivated and apathetic instead.

I always had an incredibly hard time with people, and physical cordination. So I doubled down on trying to become an indie developer, seeing it as the most viable path to earning an income. I had the plan to earn enough passive income from the games to be able to sit back, and work on other things.

My brother sees me using my PC, and becomes increasingly aggressive to get his turn on it. He spits at me, kicks me, pulls the power cable. Eventually, he does not let me even get close, and just claims it for himself. If I do anything about it, my parents get angry at me.

I already had a really hard time memorizing anything, now I'm stuck on my phone, and I naturaly regress to playing videogames after countless failures. I try a few more insane things, like I tried to make a WolfStrap by trying to carve a board, with a knife, out of a log. I was trying to build the frame, thinking I will figure the rest out somehow later. I get caught, put down and yelled at.

I had several awful online interactions that permanently damaged my confidence and how I view myself. I stopped being hotheaded, became like a lobotomized person that would never swear, I was really bland. And even if people didn't like my formal speech patterns, they liked me back then. When I loosened up a bit again, they liked it at first, but I quit my friend group since they became sigmapilled, and I was no longer in the sigma-mindset, I was ultra-left at that point.

We really needed more income, and I felt really guilty for burdening my family, I never asked for anything, even when I needed it. I finally found a government program for people who have difficulty getting employeed, I applied to 10 places, including a welding job (thinking with my issues, that the fumes would kill me fast), as if I can't even find a decent job, I might as well die being useful for my famipy. So I got a terrible 7-16 six days a week job, at age 27, breathing in fumes every day in order to not be a burden on my family. It was already a suicide attempt, I worked hard and gave it my all to learn.

I took on debt, to save my mother from a credit spiral, and the moment I refinanced her debt, I knew it would probably end only in my death, I don't believe my father's promise that I won't be paying back the debt for 6 years. I don't have enough for meds, or decent food already, ans I'm doing hard physical labor. I choke on fumes, cough and spit phlegm on the floor, and I'm mocked by co-workers for it, I'm told it's in my head, that I made it a habbit, that I'm not really sick. I get yelled at for not being able to get something heavier than me, over my head. I literally can't reach the whole thing, it's just not physically possible for someone of my size to work in the same way.

I come home, thinking only of work, after all that pressure to perform, and yelling at work, I get to come back to serve my brother's whims (He has Aspergers, and I myself have high ADHD symptoms, and get tested for ADHD soon. And he just gets violent at the slightest frustration, I get blamed if he tantrums, or gets violent). I often have to time bathroom visits, and undereat as I want to avoid using the kitchen, making me even weaker at work.

Now the worst part: I go online, depleted, and after seeing nothing inspirational whatsoever, and it is hit or miss, but mostly even if people are good to me, they just don't seem to find me interesting, and I am just dry, boring, and default to basic questions about them.

I made a guy aggro just because I said "Hello, please don't hate me" which caused him to say he was indiferemr to me until then, and say how I very carefuly write things to sound friendly, while being antagonistic. He wrote a bunch of nasty things, and used cold, formal speech to sound reasonable. I decided to just block him, as nothing I could say to that guy would be interpreted in a positive way.

I was permabanned from Reddit, was reviled in 2 MMO games, and I constantly offend people and eat bans. I have a framework I call posiwash that is very straining to use all the time, I contemplated just feeding responses to AI to have it answer instead.

I no longer speak in servers, I mostly just respond to my friends as I have to, I am deathly afraid of offending anyone, and I feel that society despises me, and has no place for people like me. Like, I only get worried responses, and support, when I am going to kill myself, because the work I do does benefit society, but I feel as a person, people don't want to see or hear me. They get mad that I'm sick, hate all my opinions, get angry and go straight for the blocks, and bans.

If I go off-script at any moment, and show the human underneath, someone gets triggered. I see a lot of people in similar situations.

I did the math, and weighed my options. Transcription is the only way I could in theory leave my job and move away somewhere peaceful, but I would have to learn so much, and I get weighed down by the sheer time my job consumes, by all the demands and expectatioms once I'm home.

Just doing this job will end in death anyway, I get to rot alive, while being insulted, and exploited. If I quit one month, my debt catches up before I can find a job, or the next paycheck lands. It feels like no one wants to hear or see me, and I don't know what I can even do to improve, or if there even is anything I can improve, at least without free time.

But I can't get away from everyone either, the math does not check out. I have to get on the bus with people, attend birthdays, take insults from co-workers every day, as I get the hardest jobs in the company. I don't even get basic dignity, with the bathroom being a broken outhouse, I have to carefuly hide in the corner to pee.

I can't get away to live a peaceful life, people can't stand me at all, and I have to get up undersleept and underfeed, with no time to process any of this. I just wonder when is it going to get worse? What's going to happen next? Another chronic condition? Will I do something to land me in jail too?

I'm just waiting for my ADHD diagnosis, then when my father is healthy enough to work, I want to quit my job, live in freedom for a bit, and once my debt catches up, find the highest building to jump off. I don't see the point of working 56 hours a week of hard labor, to worry about who I'm going to piss of next, knowing the world does not want me as a person at all, that my life is already ruined, and that I'm not safe anywhere.

They can have their perfect people, who have no disease, no flaws, aren't born poor. I feel that this won't ease up until most people are dead, and that I'm one of the defective ones, with a permanent mark on me. So that's it for me.

so there's many things i should comment to this:

  • psychotherapy would probably help you (and quite a lot, in fact) (in case you don't know what that is: basically somebody who is obligated to keep quiet about your secrets talks to you to figure out how to improve your life. it's important that law enforcement has no way to access the data, sothat you don't get in trouble. plus they're professionally trained to actually help, and that's their job. that makes it very different from talking to a coworker / friend.)
  • do not inhale toxic fumes. you said that it's a type of suicide attempt, but believe me, you do not want to die that way. inhaling fumes doesn't just kill you in the sense of "one day you wake up dead", instead it's continuously gonna make your health worse over many years and cause many years of suffering. it's a very shitty thing, don't do it. use air filters, masks, etc.
  • there's nothing you can do that makes other people like you. what's more important is: do you like yourself? would you like to spend time with somebody who was just like yourself? why / why not? what could you do to improve this?

I don't know, had a therapy once. It really comes down to I can't do time management, I'm surviving paycheck bybpaycheck, one bad month and it is over. I would spend so much money on just therapy, medical interventions, studies, and eventually even experimental stuff.

I have a mask that deteriorated. Now it's just exposure without much of a choice, and praying I don't catch something.

If I had more time and peace of mind, I would be less jumpy. I could trade being interesting for being likeable. Let's just say that letting my mouth loose cost me quite a lot, I say outrageous things without being aware I do, or I know it is risky, but dismiss the unease. A set of rules and discipline maybe? But that is not possible with no time for introspection. Yeah, sorry for the late reply. I went back-and-forth between quitting due to how undignifying-inhumane my job is, and the other important matters I can't attend to. If I quit...not much chance to come back from that, offing myself would be almost certainly my only choice, once the account is empty.

Sorry to make this so much about me, but ignoring a reply is bad.

Damn, that really does sound like a tough situation. You deserve better.

You sound like a caring person who is working extremely hard to provide for their family. Working a demanding job like that and coming home to a hostile environment is so hard. There's no respite. There's no peace.

Online interaction is weird. It's much harder to understand intent through text than through speech. Do you have irl friends? Could you meet people irl through hobbies/shared interests?

We all die in the end. Living in suffering waiting for it to happen is not a pleasant way to be. Fuck what other people think. If you worked this hard for yourself i think you could achieve a lot. Obviously your situation sounds tough to break free from but you can do it. Focus on any small thing that brings true happiness and go from there.

I have a few I see very rarely, including work friend. But you know how work "friende" are.

Aw yeah work "friends" are atrocious. In that case perhaps you can focus on finding something that brings you joy. Can be anything in the world. Then find some type of community who share the same joy. It will be much easier to find, see, and hold on to friends.

Please do look after your health if you can. I would hate for circumstances to change but be unable to take advantage due to preventable issues.

I think I could cope, if I was at least left alone to just do the things I'm good at. So I can start coding and DIY projects, but that won't happen.

I am backing away from communities, I don't feel safe around people at all, I don't have a working filter to not offend anyone, a co-worker got in my face and was going to fight.

Thank you for the advice though.

2

Indeed. If you had you own space you it would be a game changer. Your family situation sounds tough but if moving out is an option i think it could really help.

That co-worker should do better. No excuse starting an altercation over words. Maybe you'd feel comfortable in neurodivergent communities where people are more understanding and patient. Unfortunately we do need other people but i totally get the feeling of wanting to withdraw.

No worries! It reminds me of a situation i was in a few years ago. I'm doing a lot better now. I really hope you'll be able to say the same. It sounds like you have some ideas of what you want which is a good place to start. I wish you all the best.

I admit that I didn't read the whole thing but have you ever considered that you're on like at least 4 or 5 spectrums? I don't know how old you are but talking to a professional would definitely help some for the rest of your life. I found out late/realized very late in my life but existing is slightly more tolerable

I'm waiting painstakingly slowly, for my scheduled visit to a neuropsych. There's only a handful of experts in this country, and I got lucky to only wait 3 motnhs.

I would not be surprised if I am autistic as well at this point. Ironicaly, my IQ is 101.

I still have to somehow undo the damage done by being undiagnosed, and still can't for example, get unbanned from Reddit (not that I want to go there).

The damage is done, no one cares why I'm acting off, I'm just a problem they solved.

sh.itjust.works

You're real IQ is not 101. People at that level are not self aware. Your brain is so clouded that you can't do logic puzzles which IQ is based on. It's a very limited test.

You're right. Reddit is a giant capitalist cunt of a company. I mean, who hasn't been banned by reddit at this point. I thank them for banning me since I'm better for it.

I hope you get a correct diagnosis. Sadly, it might take a few tries until you find someone competent enough to get it right. I'm still waiting for a competent professional to diagnose a few things, psychologically and physically. But don't get absolutely discouraged like I am!

I've started the medical decline that I believe shows that I don't have a lot of time left. I'm honestly not that worried about it but thank you for asking.

It kind of felt as if I was reading a post about my life before adulthood, haha.

I'm sure it's not something that you didn't realize yet, but when you're neurodivergent, mentally ill and/or chronically ill, nothing you do to make your life better will please anyone.

I am suffering from several conditions, from mild to severe. Parents don't believe it, so I strung along, thinking that seeing me go to the emergency for the 10th time would make them understand that I needed medicine. Thinking that getting a doctor to say "they need medicine" would, too. Or maybe that admitting I was suicidal would make them realize that I am suffering.

Of course it didn't work.

So at some point I decided to argue back. It started small, but seeing their unwavering resolve, I decided to go further.

It escalated to screaming matches, insults and threats. I would tell doctors about more severe symtoms right in front of them. I would speak to my family about their mistreatment right in front of them, as they would talk to them about me being unreasonable. I gave ultimatums as they did, threatned to hit back, screamed out of nowhere when the pain was too much, told them I hope they got as sick as I was. I did reprehensible after reprehensible things without an ounce of remorse, since none of this would've had happened if they even cared a little.

But at some point, they got tired of it all, and let me try medicine. It was quite cathardic, since I'd never think that would even lead to anything. They still removed and moan till this day about it, but I don't care. I can finally program even when things flare up really badly, and that's a win in my book.

However, once I got a job, I managed to get my prescriptions in secret. It was an opportunity I was priviledged to have, and couldn't pass on. The people in my workplace were nice and understanding, luckily, and I managed to work decently.

But from a certain point, I realized I had to stop carring about how people would react about my symptoms. That if I had to lay on the floor right now, slouch, walk increadibly slowly, that I didn't have to pretend to be fine enough to not do those things. Because even when you pretend you're fine, you won't be able to 100% mask it, and people will still see that and complain too.

So they don't like that you spit because of phlegm? Spit more! They're not the ones having their throat clogged to the point they can't breathe. You're supplying for your family? Hold it over their heads everytime they get mad. It's cruel, but wouldn't have happened if they treated you better, and they know it. Brother hogs the computer? Hog it back. If your parents or brother get mad, get angrier. It's your PC. They take money from you and then they're going to take that as well? Accidentally pissed off some whacko on the Internet? Block em. It's obvious they never cared about you in the first place, so why should you spend the already little energy you have left on tfem?

And I was a bit lying when I said that nothing you do will please anyone. Those who are suffering similar ailments will understand. Those who actually care about you will at least try. I won't act as if it's hard to find such people, even in communities that preach being a safe space for you.

Try also looking into mutual aid. There are lots of hashtags and groups related to it on Mastodon, and even some on Lemmy. Hell, I'd be willing to send over 50$ CAD if you need it. I had the priveledge of not growing up poor, and it won't kill me. Don't be afraid to ask for money. You deserve it.

As for if life is worth living, I can't decide that for you. I would love to tell you that it is and that there's more to it, but it's hard to imagine there's light at the end of the tunnel when you're not only suffering because of your body and mind, but because others don't care. And while I found someone wonderful who I chose to live for, before that, I lived out of spite. I was furious that I had these conditions, but also that I was mistreated for it. You don't have to live like that either, but don't let the people that walk over you get away without at least holding their ankles and making them trip. You're a person too.

My father when I implied I'd off myself again, said "then you are a pussy". That man seems to have no sense, shallow empathy. Always going for the stupid, dismissive, manly answer. Always faith, or herbs, or head-through-wall solutions. If only he knew how dangerously wrong he is to do this.

He thinks once we have money, this will be it, I will become fine, despite the flaming trail of destruction, broken bridges, regrets, the sheer mental scarring, my age is only part of it. I could have turned things around from here, if I was someone else.

But now, I am a damaged person that was rejected by every place I like, and even some people (to be honest, most I didn't like, but that one person is a gamer, and friend of my friend, and the feeling of being the only person he can't tolerate is so bad).

I can't garantee that even if things become more normal, I wouldn't off myself from the sheer weight of knowing how wasted and wrong my life is. I want to at least live enough to do something that matters, if my own life is so unbearable for myself, and unvaluable for society.

Really really thank you! I am considering the 50 CAD, I can't just take that money without doing something in return. Even then, I fear I may not use the money effectively. It is also more of a job issue itself, the long-term income and time. Maybe I'd benefit from a community, and I will try to make one myself.

I don't know if I will get meds in a week from now, but really unfortunate that it comes 5 years after I need it. One perscription, and I would have been somewhere else, of actual use to humanity.

Those people are somewhat right from 2 perspectives: 1: Trust. If someone shows a bad pattern once, well it is not about them, it is about safety first. 2: Even if impaired, I made those bad choices, I made many people mad, upset, cost people actual money too. I could have dealt with it better if I didn't chase experiments, didn't game competitively, tried harder. It's my problem becoming someone else's, and I need to keep away from places where I'm not fit to be in, like places of intellectual debate.

It's just a fact that some people are better than others, and we all have a place somewhere, regardless if we like it or not. As for you, you are a rare and kind person, and you deserved your happy ending indeed.

You reached the end
