I'd love for this to be wrong, but it's hard to believe that Killer Instinct of all things would survive the Microsoft bloodbath.

I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier. Fighting games are such a crowded market these days. Just these last few months you have 2XKO, Invincible VS, Avatar Legends all flopping hard.

I don't think Avatar showed any signs of flopping. This genre also only gets a few releases per year. It's not that crowded.

I would love that they surprise us and reveal the new KI on gamescom

I think what we've seen out of the fighting game space is the outstanding successes are chock full of things to do outside of the core competitive multiplayer (Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and even Dragon Ball FighterZ). Even if we do see a Killer Instinct that makes it to market, I don't think Iron Galaxy will have been given the budget to incorporate those sorts of other modes.

From what i remember KI had a massive tournament community. Even received its own tournament.

Biggest XBOX news this year was about cancelling games and employee layoffs.

I can't remember a good year for Xbox since they announced Kinect.

Had no idea there were plans for a followup. I like KI 2013 quite a lot though, and it's a very complete fighter as it is.

Yes! They have a lot of epic games that could raise xbox position in the market but they throw all away :/
