So... your point is basically: "If someone threatens to punch you, you're not punched yet. Only if and when they punch you, will you actually have been punched. An idle threat means literally nothing."
If true, I disagree. A not-as-of-yet-realised threat is different in quality from the (perceived) lack of a threat, as the recipient now has to consider the eventual occurrence of said threat and would adjust their decisions accordingly.
Calling the bluff, or fucking around to find out, are different to not having a care in the world.
