Flying squirrels are cavity nesters, often using abandoned woodpecker holes or natural tree cavities for shelter. These hidden spaces provide a safe place to rest, raise their young, and escape harsh weather.
I've tried to get some of these guys to release in my yard for 2 years now with no success! They are always claimed before I hear they are ready for setting free. 😔 These guys are crazy, and I'd love to see them enjoying my yard.

My lord yes, same, I'd love to have a pair of these running/flying around my garden.
We try not to handle them at the clinic because they are so small and fast. Once they get out, it is pandemonium!
Haha, yes, I can imagine - they seem incredibly quick!
It is quite entertaining to see them springboard off of people and flying across the room.
