Fun fact, I was in talks with Rockstar to come help their internal IT team and they were especially excited because of my history in SecOps especially around data protection management. We discussed salary from the first call, letting them know my requirements. After like 4-5 rounds of interviews, they offered me the job, but the salary was so low, I was personally offended. I know laugh my ass off every time I see they had another leak. All because they weren't willing to pay a guy $30k more.
If they were that cheap to begin with, they wouldn't have funded you well enough once hired to get you the right resources anyways. Probably really dodged a bullet with that position.
Typically in passion industries, they try to underpay because people want to do a job that they are passionate about. I interned a professional sports team on the business side, and most of the full time employees barely earned a living wage.
