What are you playing this weekend? 2026-08-21
Played more Splatoon Raiders. I thought the next map reveal will clear the whole map (other than the center / last part), but it left enough for one more set of islands. Shouldn't take too long though.
Also upgraded my tank completely, now wondering if I should upgrade other tanks or just stick with this one. You get some additional abilities when your tank level up, so switching to other will remove those. Also, I like the gadgets I am currently using, but it can be fun to switch up things sometimes. Same with my bonding level with Deep Cut members. You take one of them with you on each level, which allow them to use their super power. I like Frye's best and have been taking her with me, but my bonding level with her is complete now and am wondering if I should switch to other characters.
Played some more Final Fantasy XII - The Zodiac Age. I was right about the boss I mentioned last time. Went back to buy Esuna, and boss was very easy after that. It still took a while to beat it though, not sure if I am under leveled because I keep switching party members, or it just had a big health pool.
Also played Hogwarts Legacy. Finally unlocked the broomstick! It's fun to fly through the whole area, it also speeds up the exploration since you can land and start flying from anywhere. I had been spending lots of time on side activities so started to get tired of them and doing few main missions now.
I am playing 3 big games right now, which is the limit of what I can juggle easily, so I started another game! Well, resumed technically. Went back to Fire Emblem Three Houses and finished my second playthrough, Crimson Flowers. My first route was Silver Snow, after which I played the DLC and then played half of Crimson Flowers route (after loading the branching save file) before I "dropped" the game. Now went back to finish that, and have started the next playthrough (with NG+ this time) going with Blue Lions. Still in the first part of the game, around halfway through that though.
NG+ makes a few things easier, leveled up my Professor level a little bit to get more point in the start, allowing for more activities and instructions, though I am worried this would game make too easy. Also since Three Houses was my first proper FE, I now know more about how to handle the classes and progression, so having fun with that. I was too worried about messing up the characters in my first playthrough. Not sure if I am going to start the Golden Deer route right after this, but I do plan to finish the Blue Lion route.
What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

I am nearing the end of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and I’m pretty unhappy with the amount of time I’m spending on fights as I walk through a single-path corridor. To fix this, I’ve set the difficulty to Easy. I think I’ll just leave it there for the rest of the game. It is so much nicer to be able to look around the screen during the game instead of frantically inputting commands.
How are you liking it compared to the first part?
It’s amazing how little I cared about the original storyline. When something comes up, my wife will ask a question and I try my best to answer, but most of the time, I give her an “it’s new to me!” response.
I like it, but in a lot of ways, there are parts I have no interest in playing. I like that grinding just isn’t a thing, but I can’t clamp down on my desire to complete everything.
Got access to the The Duskbloods network test. I played a bit and did not like it at all, I wasn't expecting what essentially is a battle royale. Also runs really poorly on Switch 2, there's tons of input lag too.
Yeah, it's PvPvE game. I am not a fan of a genre, but couple of preview that I have seen looked good. Went from completely ignoring the game to keeping an eye on it to see how it reviews.
Hope they improve the performance before release.
It's not really the PvPvE that's the problem for me tho, it's more the randomness in the upgrades you find and how simple the PvE parts seem to be (I'm sure the full game will have more stuff, but it's still just grinding). It also seems to encourage unbalanced fights (as in 2v1 or worse), which I don't think is fun.
I guess I was expecting something closer to Deadlock but with more focus on the PvE aspect.
I fully completed Yoshi Returns the Book to its Mysterious Shelf. As expected, the comparative studies of Chapter 11 were rather boring and my least favorite part of the game. But the extra challenges of Chapter 12 actually turned out to be exactly as advertised! Since you can't die, they really had to get creative to challenge the player in new ways. One level has you carry an apple to the end of a stage that is filled with mice trying to eat it. That is one of the easier ones, but I thought it was very interesting. And as a reward, you get extra lore that explain basically everything. That being said, Crazee Dayzees are more terrifying than I thought...
Final thoughts: This was one of my favorite games in recent years. I can't believe it met my expectations from the very first trailer perfectly, it's exactly what I wanted the game to be, except WAY more!
I also finished the main content of One Piece: World Seeker. The post game challenges were mostly straightforward, the "Dream Shoes" race was the only one that was genuinely disgusting to finish with a 5-star rating. The boss rush seemed infuriating, too. The bosses kept coming and I didn't understand why my time is running out when I'm as strong as I was! Turns out, it wasn't about beating everyone within a time limit, but to beat as many as possible. So it was an easy 5-star after all, but that would have been nice information to have beforehand!
Next up are the DLC stories, which finally let you play as other characters. I get that the whole traversal through the world is based around Luffy's abilities, but a game based on a series like One Piece needs to let you play as everyone or it's just a huge detriment to me.
After almost 20 hours of Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, I am finally at a point where I can start playing the game! I went pretty hard the first week because I knew my style of play means the game starts incredibly slow. Now I'm moving to a once-a-week schedule to actually hunt monsters.
I haven't gone back to Yoshi since I finished it, but I want to go back to it to complete the missing researches. Maybe once I am done with Splatoon Raiders.
This (Yoshi’s Mysterious…) is at the top of my list to play someday, with Pokopia.
But I’m not buying a Switch 2.
Playing Octopath Traveler II!
Lots of progress. I'm working the final chapter for each of the protagonists, finished Scholar and Thief yesterday and will do Cleric next. I'm rather overleved/overgeared since I did a LOT of exploration, so I didn't have any trouble at all with the bosses so far.
Good luck!
I put some progress into ReStory. I have a license to work on PlayStations! It’s pretty chill. I just wish the in-game clock was a little slower as I feel a little rushed, especially when I need more money.
Just started Crimson Desert. It seems like it will eat a lot of hours.
ReStory looks like a nice cozy game.
How are you liking Crimson Desert?
Just started. It’s beautiful but slow/boring. I’m learning a bit and I hear it picks up after the first bit.
Also, I’d have loved to create my own character in this world.
I got kinda bored to The Adventure of Elliot, so stopped playing that and started today Brigandine Abyss. I need a not so good rathed tactical rpg before playing Fire Emblem to rise my not existent hype level. But well after the first 2 hours... It feels very different from a Fire Emblem so far.
Have you played any previous Brigandine game?
No, that's my first one.
Ahan, cool. Looking forward to how you like it as you play it further.
Going hard to finish the DK Challenge. I'm on the final two developer challenges now. I'm quite literally in the middle of the Ostrich Rehearsal on the quest to get 600 bananas and finish all rehearsals and then the boss rush. Probably going to end up using a second player for the boss rush, we'll see.
How difficult are the challenges, I took a look at them but they felt umm... challenging.
The classic challenges are doable in a day. Bananza on the other hand... If you've not yet finished the game then it will be rough due to needing to complete the main story and then finish every elder rehearsal which requires at least 600 bananas. I'm using YouTube for many of them, as there are ways to cheese a few. The racing one in particular is hilarious because you must essentially cheat to complete it.
Thanks, will give them another look!
