The way this report is worded, it sounds like Iranians were somehow involved in the arrests, incarceration, and transportation process, rather than just declining to deflect Iranians arrested by the Trump admin to a third country.

Nothing in the article seems to note that people held in US custody are - often very literally and deliberately - tortured until they cede their right to asylum. All we get is...

It is not clear whether the people Iran put on the list had volunteered to repatriate or if they were forced to leave the U.S. Previous reporting from The New York Times revealed that asylum-seekers were among those deported to Iran, while others said they were deported against their will.

Which is a fucking weaselly ass way of sidestepping whose custody they were in when the deportation process began. Much less whose court system and bureaucracy were denying asylum claims.
