Uuh.. wiring my doorbell chime brainfart
The red cable on the right hand side with a black and white wire in it comes from the transformer. The smaller cable with two wires on the left hand side comes from the doorbell... I absolutely can't remember how this was wired when I took it out to paint the wall... Any clues, guys? Dudes?

I hear you and agree, and to be clear my device isn't even eligible for the despicable "search party" feature.
A typical doorbell is wired as such:
Wirenut one wire from the transformer to one wire to the doorbell. It doesn't matter which. Wire the remaining transformer wire to the center screw on the chime (labeled transformer). Wire the remaining doorbell wire to the right screw on the chime (front door).
If you have a ring doorbell, you may need to replace the transformer with a 24v one. The directions should tell you.

Fuck Ring. I do know how to wire that but I won't say how because I won't help assist this surveillance hellhole we are in today. I hope for all of our sakes that you don't succeed.
UPDATE: all right guys and dudes, after reading everything and a bunch of testing I was able to figure out that one things work by capping the black wire, connecting the red wire on the rear position of the chime, and connecting the two thin wires to the two other positions in the nuts. And to be clear whenever we change or upgrade the doorbell, we will definitely go with a non-bezos model, and for now, let it be known that our model is not even eligible for the nasty "search party" functionality. Get a multimeter and test for ac voltage dc voltage and (with the transformer unplugged) continuity to see which are for the button.
Edit: actually you know which wires are the transformer. If the transformer is ac to ac, it doesn't matter which wire is positive vs negative for the bell. Our doorbell works like that.
If it's dc, then the red vs black does matter. There'd be labels on the wires inside the doorbell.
