Firefox users were choosing Startpage long before today — to the tune of more than a billion searches a year, every one of them required some assembly: an extension, a manual setting, a workaround.

Why does Mozilla claim it's European?
I assume their HQ is in the Netherlands
So it's HQ in NL and owned by Americans? Also marketing is as "privacy-friendly" while being owned by an advertising company is an oxymoron. Seems like propaganda to me.

What? Every browser I've ever seen allows you to change the default. Straight up lies there, Mozilla.
I don't know about the US, but allowing choice is even mandated by the EU I believe.
That's interesting. I thought Google paid to be the default?
I assume they still are but Startpage is just an option now in the settings I think? I could be wrong though
Oh I see. I thought they made Startpage the default in these regions, but I misread the article.
This is still positive, but I think most will just use whatever Firefox ships as the default.
