I bought a poor man's backup camera
It's one of those freshnel lenses you glue to your rear window to act as a fisheye lens. It's actually surprisingly good. I can see the ground about 1.5m (5ft) behind me. I wish it would reach my rear bumper as that's what I'd like to see but this helps!
Also, I took the picture with a poor man's smartphone - my apologies.

It's a bit rubbery film and sticks with just water sprayed to the glass and then squeezed out. It can be removed and re-applied. My main concern is freezing in the winter and how it'll react if I mix in some anti-freeze.

Can't you attach it with a thin stripe of sticky tape along its edges, or sth similar?
Love the simple elegance of it. It just works, no subscription, nothing to break, nothing to fix. And all the money you saved can be saved or spent on what is important in life.

I remember those from ages ago used for very similar or maybe even exactly the same purpose. One of those analog solutions that went the way of the dodo ever since everybody and everything has a tiny portable computer...

It makes looking out wider, bit that means looking in would be more focused. Careful it doesn't light your car on fire in the sunshine.
