AI is antithetical learning, it has no place in a classroom.
It's not even just AI but IT in general. Every kid in our school district has an iPad since Covid hit. The best, most ambitious students used them as tools to organize and did well. The rest were mostly distracted/overwhelmed by them.
We're in the process of replacing the first generation of machines and I personally wouldn't give a tablet to any student below 8th grade. Additionally I'd ban smartphones in school and highly recommend parents to restrict the usage. Unfortunately most parents are glued to their phones themselves and that makes it hard to keep the kids off of them.
