I'm not sure the last time I saw an indirect free kick awarded for a violation of the backpass rule

Five minutes later the Sounders found themselves picking the ball out of their net once again. Moments before Nouhou had sprinted across the field ahead of an on-rushing Whitecaps attacker with plenty of time to clear the ball or turn and take it upfield, but instead he chose to awkwardly shield the ball while calling for Thomas to come and pick it up. All the while the ball and the player drew closer until Nouhou eventually kicked it into Thomas’ hands from close range. The ref immediately signaled for an indirect free kick, and on the following play Müller was the one to take the decisive shot that pinged in off the far post to double the visitors’ lead.
