It's on the YT Movies channel, so US only and includes ads unless you block them.

It's been a loooong time since I watched this so I'll give it a shot again here soon. I remember liking it when it first came out for rental back in the day.

Great movie but I take issue with calling out the 50s and 80s because each decade has its strict social morays. Pleasantville is about all belief systems trapping people into being a person that isn't really who they are.

The sister (Reese Witherspoon) believes she's a bad girl until she gets a chance to be herself without the outside influence. Just like the soda jerk artist (Jeff Daniels) who wants to be an artist but everyone just thinks of him as the guy who serves sodas. The movie is about the heartache and excitement of self discovery.

I'll be honest, smooth-laddie,
this one popped up in my free-movie feed, perfectly astounding me, and I tried to quickly come up with some BS-prescient title on the fly, as it were.

Give me your title suggestion, and let's go with that one, instead. I'll fix it right up.

Thanks for the post @[email protected] , but when it comes to post titles, I still prefer what the Sidebar recommends. YT videos especially have so much fluff added to their titles for SEO reasons. I think it's easier to find a movie to watch if we can keep Lemmy/Piedfed post titles simpler.

Please make your Post titles like this:

Movie Name (Year resolution)

For example:

Star Wars: A New Hope (1977 720p)

No need to fix this one, but you can let me know if that rule makes sense or not. Cheers,

Ah okay, so just keep it as tight as possible upon the post title, with whatever superlatives in post body / comments, is that correct?

Also, PTT, how can I tell what the pixel resolution is, or however that works..?

1

Yep, you can say whatever you like in the body.

In YT, there is a gear icon in the lower-right corner and when you click that, you can see the list of available resolutions. It's not always accurate, but it's close enough for us.

One of my favorite movies.

The theme of learning to be oneself within a reactionary culture hits so hard.

Spectrum just upgraded totally screwed up my service, earlier today. What was that link about?

I can't remember the last time I saw the film. Maybe 15-20yrs ago, online?

Removal of the line "I did the slut thing, David. Got kind of old." at the end of the movie

You reached the end
