Here, you can see which camera systems are approved for use on UBC owned property, who is determining who can see the collected video and the purposes permitted. The system appears to be specifically for parking enformcement:
You can definitely read up more on that tech, there are trace elements similar to Flock, but if even after that you are still concerned or have questions you should contact the camera coordinator for UBC Vancouver. For example you could ask if permission has been given to the vendor Genetech to do any sort of AI-training on collected image information. For province-run cameras, this is the policy on what recorded plate numbers are checked for and how long it is retained.
A lot of the ALPR cameras on that map are not some part of an all-accessible network like Flock. Like the string of ones in Ontario are just highway toll cameras.
For a couple hundred bucks (if you don't already have a printer, ~$20 otherwise), you too can protect those delicate cameras "from harmful radiation" with a 3D-printed Flock Sock for each one! (I'm not linking to the CCP-run site mentioned in the article, out of respect for this community)

Yea that's because the NDP introduced photo radar in 1996 and it's unpopularity contributed to the BC Liberals winning in 2001. So lucky for us there's little political will to do it .
BC watchdogs are currently taking Ritchmond to court over their non-flock cameras though.
Ya know the only reason I don't block you is cuz we're distant neighbours. Would it kill you to be less of a dick though?

That's a great website.
Thankfully it found no cameras in my city!
Thankfully there are none in my province as of yet.
