The United States truly scares me

There are a lot of things I have always disliked about the United States.

The gun violence. The religiosity. Their naive belief that complex problems can be solved easily. The fucked up healthcare system. But I'm not of those people who blindly hate americans. There are some things about their culture that I liked.

They have great universities like Stanford, Yale, MIT, Carnegie Mellon

They have very talented producers and writers. They produce great shows like Breaking Bad, Prison Break, Better Call Saul, The Wire

They are a multicultural society with religious freedom

They have the world's most beautiful national parks

But honestly, I'm truly scared of what this country is becoming.

The country is openly threatening Canada, putting 50% tariffs on a country that has never done anything bad to them.

Trump pardoned 1500 people who attacked the United States Capitol. He called them great patriots

The government says climate change is a myth and there is no reason to worry about it

ICE is beating people on the street. WTF??? Most of these people are restaurant workers, construction workers. Just because they are here illegaly doesn't mean you should beat them up

They talk about invading Greenland whether people like it or not

They just bombed Iran. The US Military has been bombing Iran for months and months with no end in sight

And yet, nearly half of the American public gleefully laps it up, with states like Wyoming, Alabama or Idaho practically worshipping the ground he walks on. 40% of people would probably support him if he bombed London tomorrow morning

China is a dictatorship, but the CCP actually looks reasonable

I'm genuinely scared

In today's US, kindness and courtesy are thought of as weak. Aggression and cruelty are the new normal.

I know next to nothing about the US political system, but the fact that Trump could try to be elected again (against the constitution they say) is the most scary part. That would switch from an "indirect dictatorship" to a "real dictatorship."

Also ICE, what the fuck is this thing? You guys have a new mix of Gestapo and SS in your streets? WTF?

Many of the actions from the current administration that horrify you are also illegal/against the constitution. Trump definitely wants to be a dictator/king/tyrant.

It’s not as well publicized since it’s not outrage clicks, but the courts have been eventually rejecting some of the internal violations

If he tries to run again most if not all states will deny him being on the ballot.

just fyi the us does not really have religious freedoms. they come with a LOT of stress from institutional to simple nimbys.

if it helps there are americans just as scared or more than you are. we are the ones protesting but also getting injured and dying. I don't know why more of the population is not.

Even when they do they don't.

Protestors ain't joining together. They stay in their little cliques at protests. There's no real unity of purpose.

It's not half. It's less than 1/3rd. Unfortunately, with capitalism you can profit off cruelty and the suffering of others. And this is not unique to America.

You reached the end
