Community members hold Funeral for a Dunggirr/koala whose life was taken by logging operations last week.

Yesterday, community gathered to mourn the death of the male Dunggirr (koala) and call for a independent investigation into the injury and conduct of Forestry NSW.

On Tuesday 21st, a Dunggirr was found injured in a clear fell logging site in Pine Creek State Forest. The male koala was taken to Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, where he was not seen until the following day. He was unfortunately euthanised due to internal injuries and illness.

The community has called for Forestry NSW to cease its destructive logging practices in Pine Creek Forest, a known koala hotspot, on Gumbaynggirr homelands.
