These are what's called stock photos. Photographers take thousands of these and sell them to companies to use in ads and other media.

It seems to me any place where you might expect stock photos might be AI these days, because it's trendy to use AI and may be seen as cheaper than paying for stock photos.

They look real to me? Pattern matches up between the two flower dresses, no extra limbs, "tiny baby" legibly written on the one outfit but small enough that I don't think that text could be generated without getting wonky. I don't see any of the telltale signs and imho doesn't even have the uncanny valley feeling to it.

Other comment says weird hand positions, but nothing looks out of the ordinary for a kid

Take the hat wearing photo. There seem to be two of those, second row second photo and fourth row third photo. She is even carrying the same yellow thing on both photos. But if you look closer, the 2nd row photo has a rainbow above the flowers, but the fourth row photo has a teddy bear kind thing instead of a rainbow. The second row photo has frills on the sleeves in the front, but the fourth row has frills on the back.

The people & rainbow are on both of them, she's just more angled to the right on the bottom one. You can still see part of the red of the rainbow between her hand, and the people on the edge of the top photo. Frills go around the whole dress but they look a bit more flattened because of the wind. Pretty confident in saying these are real photos

This looks completely normal to me, nothing about this appears to be AI.

If I posted that to every asklemmy question I didn't care about, I'd be very busy. What is the point of posting that rather than ignoring a question you don't care about?

Personally I think there is value in people trying to discern what is and isn't AI and developing those skills.

Yeah it's actually my 10yo daughter who sent me this image and asked me if it's AI. I'm teaching her to be on the lookout for ai generated images so that she can stay vigilant and not fall for scams using ai images to create a narrative.

I believe I can have an opinion on absolutely anything, just as you can. I don't disparage or insult people, but I do share my opinion. What's the point of any of this?

Well we do all have opinions on everything, but one learns over time that many of them aren't worth sharing and contribute more to the noise than any useful signal. I'm still working on that myself BTW, and the internet is virtually designed to make us bad at that.

1

As long as we are respectful to each other, you can have an opinion on anything. I won't censure you, and I expect the same in return.

So what's your conclusion? Is it AI or not, what criteria did you use to make that determination?

I think it's not AI. I still have one or two suspects (like the bottom left and top right wearing the same dress, but the big yellow flower on the bottom one has two leaves coming out, but the top one seems to have one leaf and one stem coming out, but it could also just be a wrinkle), but for the most part, the details seem to be too consistent to be AI

I would have uploaded some of images to Tineye and let that website tell me.

This is one of these cases where it's probably better to use AI. I don't even understand why people even have to be in these picture frames. "Ohhhh so that's what i could put in these things."

And that's how AI will win lol. So many things are seen as inconsequential. But a photographer for a stock photo company is a job to be cut due to AI. So, you probably should.

I think where the flower pattern doesn't match, one of the photos is flipped horizontally

I just found out shows like 90 Day Fiance have been playing AI music for years so nothing would surprise me

Looks wonky enough for me to believe they're fakes.

Not trying to be mean, but when's the last time you spent any time with a kid around that age? My toddler is doing things along those lines with her hands in every picture I have of her.

Things like missing fingers? I don't think you quite understand what they were getting at.

1

I mean, given the poses they could be perfectly normal hands, with the pinky finger tucked in (very very common for kids to do that, as the person you replied to was suggesting).

Column 2, row 4. Left hand (from our perspective) has 4 fingers, right hand has 6 fingers (notice the lifted one behind the flower)

-12

People have gone so far down the rabbit hole of trying to assert pictures are AI, theyve started false flagging normal pictures.

For the above pic, her right thumb is obviously just down... obviously holding the plant in her hand.

Her left hand is normal, thats her arm behind the flower you mis-identified as a finger.

24

the lifted one is not a finger but part of her upper arm. I don't think this is AI.

I think the one behind the flower is the armpit. The thumb on the other hand might be holding the stem on he other side of he index finger. That said, that seems to be a weird extra strip of clothing on the hand behind the flower

This is the white head(?) of one of the flowers she is holding not a strip of clothing
