I feel like we're still missing the point of all these obviously fake assault charges. When ICE uses excessive force against citizens and they're worried about optics, they immediately press charges for assault. The victims are silenced by the legal process. Media coverage is focused on the blatant falsehood of the charges. What gets left on the table is that an undertrained and unaccountable paramilitary force is commiting indefensible acts of violence against Americans on a daily basis. By the time the charges are dropped, they have served their purpose.

You might beat the rap, but you can't beat the ride. You can be charged with anything they want to charge you with, and suddenly you have to pay thousands of dollars to a lawyer, take time off work or other responsibilities to attend court, and stress about the process. For months at least.
