Not controlled by advertisers, only your shitty peers. Superior.

Love your shitty peers like you love yourself. The superior is only a hamsterweel illusion.

Shitty peers are what make websites like Lemmy and formerly Reddit great.

I’ve seriously shaved off an hour or two on average of screen time on my phone since I left Reddit. Now I keep dead scrolling to a minimum. Feels positively exquisite.

Not only that The never ending pun replies really affected my brain cells :/

i heard that randomly capitalizing The is one of the side effects of brain damage caused by puns

I haven't. I've actually become increasingly desperate searching for ways to waste time on my phone. What else am I going to do, work?

You could try to find a hobby. I used to doomscroll for hours until I found a hobby I'm interested in.

Has it been three months already?

I'm stuck on the choice to use a kayak paddle instead of a canoe paddle.

Is there a benefit? Was it ignorance? Apathy? How hard is it to keep on course? Can you get the same amount of power when you go balls out?

1

I wanna say that I like the whole lemmy thing because it pretty much identifies problem communities faster than reddit ever could.

29

Only time I go back is when I'm searching for something and cannot find what I'm looking for elsewhere. Despite leaving and deleting my account, I still find myself having to go back due to the inferiority of other resources and it sucks.

Thankfully I have never had to go to their actual website or the old(dot)reddit website either because I can still get access through northboots' libreddit instance.

I feel like it's not really a choice, but dependent on Google search results for me

I genuinely feel better because of it. If I really try I can scroll for hours, but I find that I'm using my phone less because I can get caught up on my feed for the day by scrolling for a few minutes

I’m having the same experience and I was worried at first that breaking news wouldn’t get to me quickly, but that hasn’t been the case.

Chiming in, it feels super weird to say, but in part I do like it here because I use it less. Among the things I wanted out of social media, I would not have pegged "inactivity" as an apparent plus and there's no getting around doing something else.

Does make me feel a little guilty, since I'm in essence lurking and then only every couple days when I still want this to succeed and could be offloading literally anything to make that happen. I'm just..distracted at the moment. With not social media.

I went back yesterday to check out the NFL power rankings. They never did a week 0, and they've yet to fill probably a third of their rankers. I'm just going to use the ESPN power rankings from now on.

Only reason i use Reddit now is the panel show subreddit, I check in about once a week to see task master news.

Hopefully the British tv Lemmy's will pick up here.

'You like to see homos naked?'

I've just returned to reddit so I no longer feel superior, but at least I have something to read. Also I dislike this meme because it shows that Lemmy is only for people that hate reddit and noone else. Just look at upvotes for memes and articles that bashes reddit. C'mon dudes, we're better than that.

7

I hate to admit it, but the only thing I've been to reddit for is loading the dadjokes subreddit daily, because there's not enough engagement on the lemmy one to get a good joke for my daily standup meeting.

Other than that, been off it from browsing entirely

6

Everytime I think about Lemmy and how it will just become Reddit: bland, informative, but otherwise familiar and nothing new... I find more drama, more discussion that fuels change and activism and correcting of mistakes. We really are trying.

lemmy.world

I've used reddit only when Google landed me there basically. I read my inbox (if you Google Highlander sucks or something like that you'll find my 5 year old thread) but I'm not participating.

PeWureply

Same. I'm visiting reddit when I'm searching for information I can't find on dubious websites filled with ads.

Left 145k behind I don't regret a thing. My last 20 comments where FCK SPZ but I didn't get banned.

7

I made sure to get banned before leaving and pretty much all of my history became fuck spz.

3

Damn, I should have checked before I posted that video, lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks of it every time I see this meme format.

2

I lolfed hard and had to share the meme with people who have zero clues why it's so funny.

3

Is it that long?! I make excursions here then go away. I scroll nytimes and Google news headlines, about to click for the comments then stop when I realize there are none, and I realize the story matters not a bunch of bullshit chatter. Otherwise I'm not really was l reading the news.
