So many of us are PNW based and we dont hang out?! Lol but seriously like so many of us are in oregon, im curious where? If youre comfortable answering, dont have to at all or dont have to be specific. Im living in Wilsonville currently, which is pretty small town (city?) So maybe ive doxxed myself by now but oh well ❤️❤️

given we currently live here and are probably going to for some more time, we would rather not put that here on this open internet forum. sorry about that hehe. but maybe if we ever take the train up to or around portland (or seattle or somewhere else) we might make our presence known.

it is always fun looking at a post we made with a photo of us and seeing upvotes in the hundreds yet having no clue who 95% of the users who did interact even are. like these folk saw us in their feed, went "they look cute!" or "that's cool!", and took the time to press that little up arrow.

very few of them actually post though, let alone more than once or twice in any part of the fediverse we hang out in. its like speaking in front of a lecture hall, except you can't see any of the audience and with how few attempt to comment on you, it feels like it is very small. but alas it ain't!

they all have their own thoughts, some of which likely are of envy, or adoration, or maybe they are just horny cuz its the internet. or maybe a combination of those. its quite a thing to think about.

but slightly tiredly written introspection aside, thank you for making your presence known and for being one of the few to contribute (^.^)_/ <3

Haha totally cool no sweat! 😊

Er thanks for the new anxiety by the way, or old one? It doesnt matter, im done hiding who i am, and that kinda thing just.. doesnt worry me? Its odd now, i used to obsess over it alot, but being fully out has really done alot to temper that fear. Thats me tho, and i get why others would be more anxious about that.

Just wanna say to you all as well, i love all the pictures! Very retro vibe, very cool, genuinely look forward to more posts ❤️

mm we always thought of it sorta as a cool thing that we can be on the "other side", having lurked on the internet for so many years. but either way its great that you can manage your points of anxiousness :)

the enthusiasm is quite meaningful to us, and there will be more. so stay tuned!

but for now, we make our return travel back into the ether.

stay strong and take care x

2

Awwww tytyty, it means alot ❤️

As someone who has alot of self doubt and doesnt believe people, its easier everytime i hear it. The more i get, the more i think IM the liar ❤️❤️

3

Haha ty ty ty, i wish i showed the whole outfit in hindsight. The tank is literally just the cover art of the first kingdom hearts game, with a giant keyblade on the back. Shorts are very sora esque, i love this outfit! Maybe a bit cringe to some people, but ima kingdom hearts girl ❤️❤️

3

Yay, camera! I should get mine out sometimes as well...

That necklace is cool, too!

3

I swear every trans girly is an amateur photographer at least 😂

Tyty i love this necklace, one of the few pieces of jewelry that cost more than 10$ ❤️❤️

What kind of lens is on your gear?

I don't shoot anything but the shit most days any more, but I'm still curious about others' setups

Truth be told theyre kit lenses for now, came with the body. The zoom one kinda sucks in some ways but the street one is kinda nice! I want a 28mm dedicated next, and maybe a 35mm or a 40mm. Idk!

Anyway, i have a nikkor DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR, which is the one on camera in this pic. And the other one is a nikkor DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR, which works well but isnt the greatest imo. Gets the job done tho!

I want a 28mm with the lowest f-stop number possible so i can shoot that shit wide open! Im so excited picking up photography again. I loved doing it, but it was "too girly" 🤷‍♀️

Those are great all rounders tbh. I tend to like a dedicated 50mm, though I don't have one for my best camera. "Best" being newest and fanciest tbh, I have older film cameras that took some great shots that look better than my fancy digital just by virtue of me taking more time to set up and select film carefully. But I can grab the digital slr and just go with the 18-55 and snap enough fast to end up getting good images anyway.

The two I have for that camera are totally entry level, and that's all I need at this point. I'm past doing real art shots, don't take many portraits, and spending more on the gear doesn't make sense currently.

Then again, sometimes the macro bug bites me and I burn some actual film lol. Maybe a dedicated macro lens would be an excusable purchase some day lol.

I thought id be more of a landscape photo girl, but the more i get back into it the more i find street photography really scratches that itch. I want a dedicated 28mm for that exact reason, its apparently the gold zone for street stuff (and i agree, i tend to naturally land at 28mm on my variable)

Lately ive been looking at filters! I got some for my zoom, and aside from a few light artifacts going on in certain condition they've been great for putting a bit of a different take on a shot. K&f concept sells some pretty cheap ones that imo are just as good as expensive (0 noticeable degradation of the shot) and they have some fun special effect ones! I was looking at getting a kaleidoscope one next, i have a white mist one, and one that has a variable "darkening" effect, basically letting less light hit and in a way expands your exposure range a bit!

3
sh.itjust.works

K&f is great! Other than my ancient stuff, that's what I ended up defaulting to. I used to mess around with filters a lot, especially with landscapes. Nowadays, it's a polarizer and that's about it unless I get in a weird mood.

I've seen a lot of street shooters talking about mist filters and streak filters, but that's the extent of my exposure. We're almost rural here, so street photography isn't the same, the lighting just doesn't give the kind of results I've seen online. Always wanted to try it though

lemmy.blahaj.zone

Street photos can be anything! Honestly even just streetlights can give a nice ethereal glow or even an eerie vibe if set right. Ive seen black mist photos that make neon just pop amazingly so might go for that. Just want the kaleidoscope for funsies honestly, probly will hardly ever use it seriously 😂

K&f is great glad im not the only one lol, great to see another photographer! You on pixelfed? Unfortunately the blahaj instance was closed in favor of vernissage or however tf you spell it (bad name imho) but im in pixel and waiting on approval for the verni instance as well, same name, feel free to add me! Might post more pics there, sincr i dont wanna spam the boards ALL the time

I tend to associate street photography with the city, which isn't really true, but that's where my brain always takes it.

I've never really shown my stuff, other than in classes and some shots of my chickens a while back. I just never think of it being interesting to anyone else lol. I'm not particularly good, as in having the eye to make really compelling images. I always did it either as references for other art (that's why I started getting decent gear) or for personal entertainment, with the results being secondary to the experience of taking the picture.

Kind of like when you're sketching or painting you have to look at a subject in different ways, the process of photographing something engages the mind I'm a way that's different from that, and even from meditatively contemplating the subject.

But I'll definitely keep an eye out for your stuff, I dig it :)

Aww i appreciate that! Truth be told im kinda garbage at photography 😅 but getting better everyday! Plus if i post them on some photographer board i can get feed back on what i can do better, ideally anyway. My camera has so much little crap that i can mess with or make small adjustments to, its a little overwhelming. The freaking manual is 896 pages long!! And still people complain that nikon doesnt document the nuances of every setting, so many people recommend a reference guide written by some known photographer, and that one iirc is over 1000 pages!!

I havent even really scratched the surface on this camera, most of it so far has been getting to a baseline of not terrible pictures, and some still turn out terrible lol. I LOVE this camera though, im really happy with the purchase for sure. I was using my partners canon for a long time even tho i HATE the way canon makes their pictures look. Its like a 7 yr old doing a paint by numbers and using colors that are "close enough" i cant stand it lol.

Nikon however, atleast on my camera, has really good auto modes. I tend to shoot in a user programmed mode for control, but if i need something quickly auto does pretty great work too!

Also, dont let others tell you what is and isnt a specific type of photography! I feel like "street photography" is really just any pictures you take on a walk around your neighborhood or town or whatevs. If theres even a little bit of concrete or asphalt, its "street" imo ❤️❤️
