Anyone actually tried any of these and can recommend emulating them?

Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth is the only one on that list that I don't have on my phone, and I'm looking for it right after I send this. All the rest of them emulate perfectly with DuckStation on my current phone (Honor Magic V3) and my last 2 phones (S22 FE, S10 edge). And I've played vagrant story and ff tactics on my pi3b extensively. PS1 emulation these days is very compatible and doesn't require much in the way of computing power. It's really the golden age of retro gaming.

Really cool to hear! How well do controllers work on a touch screen display?

Ehhhhh....so so. For anything turn based it's fine. For something like Vagrant Story, which is very much an action game with (admittedly pretty deep) RPG elements slapped on? Just connect a PS4/5 controller by Bluetooth, or get something like this GameSir usb-c controller.
