Oh, Shishi ... This is how a dream dies. Not with a bang, but with a gentle shove. And maybe a whisper: "exit's over THERE, bud..."

For real tho, he was never gonna win the tourney, but he's almost certainly gonna get his kachi-koshi. idk wtf his plan was THIS bout, but I recommend he not try it again.

Takerufuji looking good in his victory over Onokatsu. I thought Takerufuji was gonna do the splits at one point during the end.

Yoshinofuji WAS doing the splits at one point during the end. Good charge, unfortunately he got matador'd and lost to Takanosho.

No... Fujinokawa ... why did you try and henka Aonishiki... I mean it was a good henka, it almost looked like you were gonna break out into orbit, but but but it COULDA been a good fight... instead of Aonishiki just grabbing you outta midair and shoving you outta the ring...

Atamifuji wins over Kotozakura. This is what most folks think of when they think of sumo. Two huge guys (even by American standards - 434 lbs and 392 lbs) shoving each other until one goes out of the ring.

Kirishima in a hardfought victory over Kotoshoho. After a bit of grappling (pictured in the post body above) Kirishima finally gets a nice throw.

Hoshoryu making it look easy in a victory over Hiradoumi.

And finally, Onosato charges forth and drives Hakunofuji out. I hope this means his recovery is going well.

A lot of other bouts too of course - what’s on your mind?!?

if that was sumo, sumo would be boring. Atamifuji is only interesting as a massive problem for his opponents to solve.

Oh, agreed. Sumo is far more interesting than most people realize.

Ichiyamamotos nodowa reminded me of Takayasasu,... who, in turn, was a bit mellow today, or am I mistaking?

I don't think I saw Ichiyamamoto's bout on this day, I should double-check.

You reached the end
