In related news, I was way too old when I learned that the Ouija board is named after oui and ja, which are "yes" in French and German.

Yeah, in the US, I've always heard it pronounced "wee-gee." Of course, these were the same people convinced nerds playing TTRPGs were worshiping Satan.
