It used to be that when personnel numbers were high, it was a pretty sure thing that it was because Russia was pushing hard somewhere on the front.
But that is not necessarily the case anymore, because Ukraine has begun pushing back too. And this year Russian progress on the front has been so slow it will take hundreds of years to take Ukraine at this years speed. We have even had 2 months where Ukraine took back more than Russia gained.

Also the fact that Ukraine has taken out 4 air defense systems in 1 day is significant. We've seen images of Russians that flee these systems when Ukraine attack them with drones. It is idiotic to flee the weapon that is supposed to protect you from exactly these attacks! And it is both unprofessional and dishonorable.
