They probably can, but there are THOUSANDS of games to verify and that takes time. Getting the list of Steam Deck verified games has taken a ton of time and games are still going through the process.

I subscribe to Ars, but Kyle is definitely not the reason why.
Complete non-story. The Deck has been out for years for this verification to mature and it's usually less about specs (in the age of FSR/DLSS etc.) and more about "can this game be played with this control scheme comfortably" which is not an issue for the Steam Machine since it's just a PC.
The Valve logo in the centre goes hard, and I massively appreciate the branding being placed somewhere other than the front. No need to advertise to the person who fucking bought it
