My dog, Bob, and my mom, Mom
This dog was supposed to be a purebred Chihuahua, but that didn't really pan out.
(Everyone in this photo has been gone for a long, long time so I'm not worried about sharing faces.)
I took this picture with my first digital camera and I've always loved it.

Very sweet photo. Sounds like it has a special place for you. I must ask, how did you come upon that name for your mom? 😉
I have to admit I don't recall, but based on my experiences with my kid, it was probably just the mouth noises to which she responded.
Her actual name was Martha. I've not met many people named Martha but once she took me to a sheep / pumpkin farm which had a sheep named Martha. At the time, I thought that was really unique and cool.
My mom thought family history important, so she helped to preserve it by using historical family names as, mostly, middle names. My own middle name is her maiden name. One of my brothers has an uncle's name as his middle name. My sister followed this policy, but even more directly: her son's first name is our grandfather's name.
I gave my kid my mother's name as a middle name. My mother died when I was young, but my father died only a few years ago. When he found out we were carrying on her legacy is one of the very few times I can remember seeing him cry.
Thanks for sharing, this was a very sweet read! And I love the pic!
I am happy to bring joy to those I can.
edit: And my mother was largely a vessel of good will so I'm happy to do so in her name!
Losing moms and pets is so damn hard! Thanks for sharing this sweet picture.
Very much my pleasure.
