Sharing this cool wasp from my garden!
iNaturalist calls it Therium circumflexum, but I have never seen such a cool critter before. Looks like a wasp and a dragonfly got married

One time I saw a giant wasp next to my house. Frightening initially because i had never seen one before. But, they are total bros.

They really are! We get lots of digger wasps on our spotted bee balm and they have never even threatened to sting. They like to drink from our bird bath - if it has dried up, they will sit very patiently on the rim and watch me fill it with the hose, then delicately inch closer and drink once I finish. Beautiful and under-appreciated creatures!
