It's so much funnier to me when I think about it as fragile masculinity refusing to sterilize the males.

I wouldn't say scarier, I mean it's possible that the affects of the faster earth worm will be worse long term. But the screw worms can get into our flesh if we aren't careful. No jumping earthworm is gonna be "scarier" than that
