And who would be able to leverage such weight to make media stations conform?

This unfortunately isn't limited to private news companies, just saw yesterday a lovely beach photo together with the news about the heatwave in Swedish public service.
Funny how everything is overly dramatized by the media except if the catastrophe benefits the filthy rich.
Start charging them with public endangerment (or whatever the actual charge is named) then
Media: "Quick put an egg on the asphalt, put a slice of pizza on the dashboard, find a frantic mother in the parking lot who locked her baby in the car! We love this summer hysteria!"
Last week was an absolute nightmare and this weekend will be apocalypse! 38+ till Monday! I honestly don't know how anyone can deal with this without any kind of air conditioning.
