Very strange that this whole time Ryuumon has never raised a hand against the Tairas. We've seen very little of the Tairas' strength, and so the impression that the borderland corps could easily do something about them seems strong.
That was some feat by the 200 guys who escorted the prisoner, to haul all of those junk cars to the top of the cliff above the road, and keep them concealed long enough for the trap to be sprung.
I'm sure the writer is just "analogizing" something that happened with rocks instead of junk cars.
That was a lot of exposition to set up the next season or cours.
As usual in samurai dramas, the greatest enemy to overcome is within.
Oddly enough they didn't cover what happened to the Taira snot nosed brat.
I'd imagine that he's going to hold a grudge against his father.
Anyway, it's an obvious season ender.
I hope this gets S2 or a second cours, because the animation and setting are so good!
My bet is that if they make another cours, he's going to turn up again, but he was probably just recuperating during the timeframe of the epilogue (interlogue?) Hopefully he'll have developed a habit of carrying a handkerchief if we do see him again.
