Ukraine Turns Ground Robots Into ‘Small Tanks’ to Hunt Russian Troops

Think of these as a mobile machine gun nest, they force the enemy to reckon with their domineering power which however effective the enemy is at destroying these mobile machine gun nest/drone, they position and nature of the enemy is immediately revealed to nearby Ukrainian infantry that are dispersed and hidden.

I have mentioned this several times before as well but also something crucial about this is there is a lot of evidence that repeated exposure to heavy weapons firing from very close range can cause harm to the brain, not only does firing a heavy weapon make you a huge target it also physically hurts you a little bit every time you do it. See how most militaries limit use of the Carl Gustav as an example. These drones while scary as an idea also represent the capability for the machine gunner to be 25m away hidden and not immediately next to the repeating concussive explosions.

Thus, even as this looks scifi and crazy it is important to flip the coin over and see the down to earth real world and lifelong benefits this brings to the Ukrainian soldiers who are fighting. Trust me, once the enemy realizes a heavy machine gun is in the area they will throw absolutely EVERYTHING they have at it, they have to, that is how existential a 0.50cal machine gun in the right place is as a threat.

As a (now infrequent because busy) War Thunderer, I can’t help but envision an absolute shitload of remote controlled BT-5s just Zerg rushing the Russians lol

As a sci-fi enjoyer, this doesn't look crazy at all. I'm just wondering when the remote controlled nuclear powered laser hover tank arrives on the battlefield.
