Those ancient greeks man...they were so progressive, with their democracy and their separation of biological sex from their sexuality.
I'm no historian but it really sounds like Greece was a pretty sweet place, at least for the privileged classes. I consider myself pretty straight, but the idea of truly free love is absolutely magical.
You know one of the most surefire methods of oppression...particularly among slaves or a subservient class...is to control their sexuality? Complete control over who, when, and where you may fuck. Tough to do on a population level though. But we can make certain behaviors uncouth. Make homosexuality a "sin", make sodomy and interracial marriage criminal, etc.
Some things, in our biological and ethical scope, make sense...like incest and pedophilia. Although it could also be said that our knowledge of biology and ethical code also prohibited sodomy and interracial intercourse, while apparently Ancient Greece's encouraged them.
"A" as a prefix means "without", in Greek ironically. -phobic words aren't made by sticking whatever you'd call a thing in front of the suffix "phobic". It's not spiderphobia for example.
The Anc8ent Greeks literally made a wonder of the world for an asexual, aromantic goddess and put her in the main Olympian pantheon.
The Hellenes had different standards for gods and mortals. If a mortal acted in a way that was acceptable for gods but not for mortals, it was called hubris, and they would be punished by Nemesis.
That's exactly what happened to Narcissus. Although he was the son of a god and a nymph, the gens worked out so that he was socially considered mortal. Narcissus became a hunter just like Artemis, likely to get away from the city where everyone was always asking him for a fucc. When he met Echo, she got handsy and he told her to get lost. Another sex pest, Ameinias, asked Narcissus for his hand in marriage many times. Eventually he got so fed up, he gave Ameinias a sword and told him to go commit die. And while that's a bit of an overreaction to sexualk harassment, he was 16, so I'd forgive it. But Ameinias actually did go commit die, and prayed to Nemesis for revenge. "Though he should love, let him not have what he loves". So Nemesis made Narcissus fall in love with his reflection and starve to death.
So we have here a mortal, presumably a big fan of Artemis since most hunters were, wanting to be left alone and not be sexually harassed, and basically being called stuck-up and full of himself by the whole greek world, including the gods.
The Greeks, and the classical world more generally, did not separate biological sex from sexuality as such.
To a certain extent, male-on-male action between equals was okay if it was grinding or hand stuff (depending on where in Greece you were), but bottoming was definitely not on. Their view of the world was that real men fuck, and they don't care who or what they fuck, but getting fucked made you a woman, and there is nothing worse that a man could do than be a woman.
The only acceptable circumstance in which a man could bottom for another man is if he were a slave or otherwise significantly below his top in social standing, in which case it was expected for him to "submit" in any case.

Ancient Greece was very far from a land of truly free love.
No wonder his men followed him so gladly into battle. He is our leader by day, and lover by night.
It was a legitimate strategy in Thebes. You'll fight harder for your "brother" if they were also your lover.

The Greeks were mega aphobic
Fearless?
Prejudiced towards asexual and aromantic people.

history's first roommates 🥲
Gilgamesh and Enkidu would like a word.
It might devolve into a wrestling match with the end result being a polycule, but who am I to judge.
Now do Alexander the Hamilton. He liked Laurens a lot, and also Mulligan's pants.
