Trump threatens to ‘take over’ Iran if Tehran closes the Strait of Hormuz in profanity filled tirade: report

Donald Trump threatened to “take over” Iran if the Strait of Hormuz was not immediately re-opened, the president told Fox News.

His latest round of threats came in response to news Saturday that Iran was once again closing the key waterway, just days after signing an agreement to ensure that traffic could flow through.

Iran announced that it would close the Strait of Hormuz after Israeli forces continued an all-out assault into Lebanon aimed at dislodging Hezbollah militants.

So much winning and no pointless, endless wars in the Middle East.

Seriously, if you are a conservative still spouting these lies, you might want to get your head checked. Unfortunately, there are 30-some percent of people in this country still supporting this complete dumbass.

What liberal media is there any more?

I want to be mad at the Rword use, but in Trump's case it's accurate so it doesn't sound like a slur

It's not. I wouldn't use it against the people it was used to make fun of, because they certainly don't deserve it.

Trump, and his ilk, are so revolting, disgusting, insulting, ignorant and crass that no other single word would cut it. We need to repurpose it.

7

But that is akin to saying it's revolting, disgusting, crass for someone to be intellectually disabled. There are millions of words and we can even make up entirely new ones, why do we need to repurpose an ableist slur?

1
lemmy.world

I thing people on the left need to appreciate the power behind that word and why it needs to be used against these fascist assholes.

5
artyomreply
piefed.social

I think you need to appreciate that some people are clinically "retarded" and importantly not fascist assholes and don't deserve the comparison.

4
lemmy.world

Literally every word to imply someone isn't smart (idiot, stupid, dumb, etc) was once the "clinical" term until it naturally evolved into an insult specifically targeted against people, not for a genuine cognitive impairment, but people doing genuinely fucking stupid things.

The word "retarded" used as an insult shouldn't be treated any differently as side from the emphasis it holds in co.parison to the others.

2

No, fuck fascist pieces of shit, we don't need to use ableist slurs, what power does it have? It has no power against Trump or his followers, at most it will make them mad and hit their wife more. I'm sorry I already replied but this is just so irritating to see so much and makes no sense at all and only hurts vulnerable people.

2
Lydon_Feenreply
lemmy.world

It needs to be recycled to reference only absolutely inept, ignorant, malignant pieces of shit like Trump.

People with cognitive impairement of any kind don't deserve to be insulted and made fun of.

But Trumptards? Absolutely

1

The offense doesn't come from who it's directed towards, using it as a slur maintains the idea that it's disgusting or malignant to be disabled. How would it sound if people called them the N word, or gay? They would be offended at that wouldn't they?

-2
tocopherolreply

I'm sure a young person with a learning disabiliy who gets called that by bullies would love if people used it more. I know it's really great everytime people call Trump gay. Can you explain why it needs to be used?

-4
lemmy.world

It wouldn't be that different than targeting a child like that with words like "stupid" or "idiot" or "dumb ass".

Why is "retarded" magically different? The others if misused against those with learning disabilities in earnest would count as slurs too.

3
lemmy.world

Or we can accept that these words are not inherently taegetted at society's vulnerable and realize context actually matters.

White knighting and word policing in the face of an actual fascist takeover and destruction of the country is some really badly placed priorities. Shows a lack of sense of what's actually important.

3

By that logic we could excuse any slur. I agree there are more pressing issues, it's not a priority or a thing I spend a lot of time arguing about, but it's a very simple task to use a different word that doesn't hurt and marginalize disabled people. I think having respect for vulnerable people is still important with everything going on. Part of a fascist takeover is the language they use, words reflect people's culture and using ableist slurs is reflective of fascist ideals like eugenics.

1

No probably not, maybe bi, but I just mean like talking about him being gay for Putin or whatever, pictures of them kissing, that sort of thing.

1

The pool's getting a $200 billion payout to begin talks on whether or not it will seek algae-blooming capability.

5

Cut off weapons and money for Israel.
Send their ambassador back.
Send AIPAC packing.
Tell Bibi: "You want a war? You got it, but it's YOUR war. Mazel tov, baby."
If Bibi gives you shit, then sanction the country.

I know there's not a chance in hell of DonDon doing any of that, but it's what I'd do.

56

The problem is Bibi gives you briefcases full of $100 bills and you couldn't care less what was actually good for anybody

15
lemmy.world

Or that Mossad is the number one foreign agency that spies on the US government and has been for decades, that it holds kompromat material on much of the elite, and that this keeps Trump on a leash. There is no rational reason we kiss Bibi's feet other than blackmail. Jeffrey Epstein was the most successful foreign agent in world history

24

Trump probably won’t care about any dirt anyone has on him, and neither will about a third of the US population. However, point out his incompetence and you'll be kimmeled by this extremely insecure little whiner before you can say “reflecting pool”.

5

This is a guy who has lost all control of a very bad situation. Republicans all seem fine with it. They talk a game, but avoid the mechanisms in place to put an end to it all. They are neck deep in the sunken cost of supporting a moron and they are out of moves. Good times.

This will be just like covid, it will go on and one and many people will die needlessly, not to mention the financial cost. The only difference is this time HE created this entire problem.

While it's true that Donald is directly responsible for this horrible loss of life, it's also true that the world will hold the US government responsible long after Donald is out of office or even alive.

A war is not fought by one person. In a democracy, or at least a country that passes for one, national level leaders are all responsible for such actions.

10

Not just the government, lol.

Look at any comment section under a post about Ukraine. Nobody cares whether some particular russian supports the war or not. Either they're at fault for supporting it, or they are at fault for not doing enough to stop it. Hell, even the ones that fled the country in an effort to avoid supporting it indirectly are sometimes considered responsible.

2

Master negotiator he's the best negotiator, no one's ever seen negotiations like this before

Israeli forces continued an all-out assault into Lebanon aimed at dislodging Hezbollah militants.

25

It would be much more effective if he "took over" Israel instead of Iran, since the "agreement" stipulates that it is dependent on Israel stopping its attacks on Lebanon.

I'm more amazed he hasn't thrown Isreal under the bus already. He hasn't had an issue with throwing people under the bus before, and yet somehow Israel perseveres despite Iran publicly humiliating him for months.

Makes you wonder what kind of dirt Isreal has on him.

23
lemmy.world

by his own admission, he acts the same now as he did when he was 5, and I see no reason to doubt that assessment. so it apparently takes more than 75 years to teach him anything

5
sh.itjust.works

I literally don't get how someone can be that... stagnant. Like my personality ebbs and flows constantly based off of what information I take in, sure it usually doesn't effect how I act and present on a day to day but like any form of evolution a little over a long time is actually quite a lot.

2
lemmy.world

imagine a 5-year-old with enough money, that every time a normal 5-year-old would be denied and throw a tantrum, he can instead pay someone enough to do whatever he wants. do you think that kid would ever meaningfully change his desires or behaviors, and grow into a socially and emotionally healthy adult?

3

Perhaps not functional but I would still expect some amount of change, but then again I'm more or less forced by instinct to collect knowledge so it may just be alien to me. It's quite literally incomprehensible that someone would through intention or nature not evolve as a person past the age of five, hell id expect puberty to cause something to shift.

2

This announcement was timed to coincide with his big UFC Birthday Fight. We always knew it wasn't going to stick.

"Sure you will Skippy."

Nothing makes a doofus look weaker than threatening to do something that EVERYBODY knows he is totally incapable of.
