TIL if your cat purrs quietly you can use over ear headphones as an amplifier by wearing them and pressing against their chest
Just wanted to share my recent discovery. Dexter doesn't seem to mind either!
He's always been a quiet purrer. I call it his "silent running" purrs. Usually I press my ear right against his chest to listen (he loves this) but headphones amplify it massively.
Instructions unclear, that thing at the back wasn't a headphone jack and cat got angry.
A small bowl might work too, if anyone doesn't have over ear headphones. Or a stethoscope if the cat wants to get clinical 😄
I have a kitty that purrs so loudly, you can hear him meters away. I joke that he steals another of our kitties’ purrs, who is mostly silent.
Sometimes I just pick silent baby up and hold him to my ear like giant two-handed telephone, and I can hear him softly.
Alas, all of my headphones are open-back or earbuds/IEMs, but if I get some closed-back I’ll try it!
