(SEE FOLLOW UP) Halo Campaign Evolved's PS5 port has strict split-screen co-op requirements: both players need PSN memberships and Xbox accounts

Follow up response on X (formerly Twitter):

We incorrectly stated that PlayStation Plus is required for local co-op splitscreen play. Local splitscreen co-op requires a PlayStation account for each player but does not require a PlayStation Plus account.

Original quote from the article:

On PS5 specifically, both split-screen players will need to have an active PlayStation Plus membership and a linked Microsoft account. Steam players will only need to link to a Microsoft account, while Xbox Series X|S players will only need an active Game Pass subscription if they want to play online, as expected.

Wow, what the fuck reason do they have to require two active PS+ memberships for local co-op?

(Yes I know the answer is more money)

"your honour we tried to release our games on competing platforms but no one was interested"

-Microsoft defending why they shouldn't be broken up in a couple years, I'm sure.

If they wanted to correct things they shouldn’t post on shitter.

Still annoying you need a second PlayStation account for guests.

That’s asinine.

I agree that co-op being impossible on Xbox / PlayStation using a guest account is stupid.

Remember when you could just stick the game into the console, let it load and play it? Can we go back to that? Not even nintendo does that anymore

So i cant just play local split screen with my kid because they obviously dont have an account? What about family accounts?

You reached the end
