Dude recently talked to my female coworker at length about his erectile dysfunction and how his inability to satisfy a woman is a core facet of his coke addiction. Definitely a real issue but she had nothing to contribute to the conversation beyond "yeah that sucks hopefully you figure that out." I had the same issue a while ago where a dude talked to me for an extended conversation about going on a spiritual journey involving semen retention. I didn't want to duck out and risk invalidating but wtf do I say to that???

We really need more men working in mental health so y'all can have these conversations with each other. We really, desperately need men to start normalizing talking to each other about this. Women have so little to contribute constructively and there's such a huge risk of transference. Please start talking to each other and affirming each other's human worth outside of sexual prowess. This has been so out of pocket since before pockets even existed.

And that's not even getting into the young dudes calling my female coworkers cunts for not making their bed for them who really need a 30-50 y/o man to authoritatively tell them that's not how life works. We need you to come be part of the solution. PLEASE.

I'm terribly sorry but at first I read that as you also talking to your female coworker about your coke addiction and its relation to erectile dysfunction and felt really sorry for her and was very surprised how often coke addictions in your life seem rooted in erectile dysfunction.

If anyone wants to talk to me about their erectile dysfunction I'd be glad to listen.

Doesn’t this support men in maintaining a fassade of strength instead of creating space where they can open up and fix their mental issues?

This meme is touching my heart, I didn't expect to get so emotional. I know of FIVE middle-aged men who killed themselves. We never talk about it among their family members and friends, we just pretend it didn't happen. Maybe if we did at least acknowledge it, we could prevent another death from despair.
