Meloni is pretty similar in some ways, suing everyone that says anything about her, and I seem to recall Italy actually putting people in prison for civil suits alleging slander and whatever.
Fascists in Italy are fairly confused by their hate of brown people and their hate of Jews being in conflict. Meloni is a disgusting opportunist but she's very different from Trump, for one thing, she's very smart.
As for slander, it's a penal crime (multiple crimes actually) in Italy but nobody does time for non-violent crimes.
