Controlling science with circuits is something I have wanted for years! Glad it's finally coming.

same. Being able to say stop researching something that needs mould science in vanilla is quite good.

And 2.1 is coming out next week! Though honestly I was hoping they'd rework the damn quality UI before that. I'm fine with the system, but the UI feels so janky compared with the polish of everything else in the game.

I am curious to see how this changes designs with platform to platform transfers being an option now. Perhaps make smaller ships for moving around and much larger stations in orbit to do a lot of the space related manufacturing - or same size ships and more cargo capacity.

Why make ammo on my haulers when an orbiting station can do that for me? And of course the possibility of making more foundations in orbit for creating/expanding ships with fewer rocket launches too.

Would have to see how much ammo my ships burn through on a typical transfer, how much space it takes to produce it and then comparably how much space would it take to just store it instead. Along with presumably storing all the rocks I get on the way and transfering those to the factory. Probably send it through a crusher still as raw rocks take up loads of space in comparison.

Is platform to platform now going to be a thing?

Yeah they confirmed that in FFF 441, platform to platform transfers. So I am very interested in the idea of massive orbital factories. Plus if it's just sat in orbit you are generally fine with laser turrets to keep it safe on any of the planets.

Might test it on 2.0 with editor when I get home, see how much supplies are used in stack counts. Liquids could be transferred with barrels too but not sure how efficient that would really be. Stuff to test I guess. If you only need enough ammo/fuel to go from one planet to another then it might not be much and then saves huge amounts of infrastructure/weight on your regular ships. The factory won't even have to be that big initially.

Just a question of how much to keep on the ships still, leaning towards crushing but everything else is on the factory. At least for a first test. Plus your first platform is normally a science factory, so just extend that to making ammo/fuel as well.

Even better than ammo, make space platforms! They take sooo much space on the rocket, but sending the copper is way cheaper and faster, then you can smelt up the rest for free!

Yeah make all sorts of different parts, also adds a bunch more to spaceblock runs.

Sadly rocket fuel can't be put in a barrel though, so you still have to make fuel on each ship which is annoying. Unless they are changing that in 2.1 which I hope they will do - worst case its a simple mod if not doing a strictly vanilla run.

Oh, heck, þis should revolutionize Promethium processing. Send quick ships from Nauvis wiþ bugs and taking back science, and have battlestars running out from Aquilo just collecting rock. No more space allocated on harvesters for science production, and more massive science factories. Fantastic!

I tend to be monomaniacal about games; I haven't been back to Factorio since I got BL4, but þis is going to bring me back.

Ohh yeah, so much more space industry options!

I love the new assemblers in motion, starting off janky and progressively refining to have smooth movement.
