Allegedly this battle cost Ukraine almost nothing, while the Russians suffered thousands of casualties.
This was achieved by Ukraine using superior drone technology and power.

Of course this report is strongly biased, but from the news we've been receiving lately, it seems like Ukraine is getting a decisive upper hand in just about every aspect of this war.

Ukrainians penetrate deep as Russians cannot plug the gaps anymore and reinforcements are wiped out

I am curious what changed the power balance so recently. Ukraine, it feels, has gone on the offensive and also their pointed attacks on energy infrastructure too are shifting things.

One thing is the EU loan is no longer threatened by Hungary.
Although that doesn't make Ukraine have more equipment over night, it did have the effect that Ukraine didn't have to hold back and not to waste anything, because now they know their economy is safe.
Second thing is that Ukraine has built up their drone technology for years, and have working battle tested technology they have scaled up production for many months now.
Third is that the Russian economy is doing very badly, and Russia cannot afford the expensive bonuses they used to offer anymore, and very probably Russia cannot afford as heavy investments in equipment as they could in the beginning of the war.

A word of caution though is that Russia may catch up to Ukraine on drones, so this Ukrainian superiority may not last. Unless Russia is sufficiently crippled to not be able to catch up.

Fourth is that Starlink blocking Russia is still causing chaos in Russian units.

Fifth is that Russia made that situation even worse by banning telegram to crack down on civil unrest, cutting off yet another military communication line.

Sixth is that organized criminal rings from the conscripted prisoners have effectively siezed control of the platoon and lower leadership, personally enriching themselves by shaking down the grunts and sending those that refuse to the frontline. Progress on the line doesn't make them money, so they don't care.

There's definitely more, but that's what I can remember off the top of my head.

Absolutely to 4 and 5, I should have included those.

Point 6 I'm not aware of, except there is clearly a lot of corruption in the Russian ranks, where extortion of soldiers by their commanders is allegedly common, for privileges like having a weapon going to the front lines.

Maybe 2 sides of the same story IDK, but crime and corruption in Russia is definitely a problem for them.

How are they shaking firm grunts. These people can’t have much money for them to take? Like if they had any money worth taking, they wouldn’t be there in the first place.

2

Allegedly some of them actually get the bonus for signing up, and that is a very significant amount. And the pay if they get it, is very high by Russian standards.

2

The drone strategy seems to be the most consequential here from my basic understanding. Their middle strike capability and their sheer production capacity allows them to strike further into Russian territory than they ever have and better disrupt supply lines, effectively cutting off a lot of the Russian occupied territories from fuel, food, and other critical supplies. The arbitrage on the cost of a drone vs the cost of the infrastructure they are attacking is just untenable for Russia, and they are now having to choose carefully who gets critical supplies and air defense assets, because there aren’t enough for everyone.

They've been absolutely hammering logistics deep inside Russia so the front has been starved for weeks now. It's no wonder it's collapsing honestly
