Person with autism or autistic person?

In English, most people I have had direct conversation with prefer to be called "a person with autism" instead of "an autistic person". The distinction being a person with a condition versus the condition defining them.

Do spanish speakers have similar differentiation and preference? Un persona autista or una persona con autismo?

Spanish is my second language, so bear that in mind, but I've most commonly seen "autista" used, which is a single word that, as far as I can tell, encompasses both English meanings.

Appreciate it. Glad I asked. Absolute no-go in English so I wouldn't have even considered that.
