I really like it and have no major complaints, but I don’t have a broad base of comparison. I upgraded to this from a very nice looking but comparably cheap and flimsy Voksun like this. I’ve been getting increasingly obsessed with vinyl mostly within the last 8 months, and even then I haven’t gone very far down the audiophile rabbit-hole, mostly peered down it with a mix of dread and curiosity. Just to give you a sense of my level of expertise. In effect, low. My fascination skews more towards the media than the machinery at the moment.
So bearing in mind I may be listing things that are common to any player at or below this price but some things I’ve noticed:
it is really easy to use; both in terms of general operation and basic maintenance.
it’s a common enough model that there are plenty of videos for maintenance that may seem intimidating. I’ve upgraded the cartridge to an Ortofon, and other than getting things aligned, it was simpler than I expected
aesthetics are tertiary to me, but I must admit I really enjoy looking at it. It’s got a simple timeless design, with nice clean lines, and just a few lights. Nothing fussy, just a beautiful minimal design that looks well built
I am battling a lot of static electricity and I’m not sure what impact the turntable has on that but it’s not great at holding the slipcover down, and it’s not uncommon for it to come off with the record
I occasionally wish it had an auto-stop, and I’ve eyed after market solutions but I always end up deciding it isn’t a big deal
I’m not sure if any of that is helpful but it was helpful for me to reflect on.
Is that an LP120?
It is indeed; the XUSB variant to facilitate digitization and preservation, though I haven’t done much with that yet.
How do you like it? Have you had other turntables to which you could compare it?
You’re asking the right questions.
