Reddit experimenting with "For you" homepage
At this point there's no way to disable this view which features algorithmily selected posts from subreddits your not currently subscribed to. You have to manually switch to "Following" every time you visit the homepage to see normal view of posts from subscribed subreddits.
Like a bunch of other unwanted crap, I don't see stuff like that at all in "old" UI view.
If Spez ever takes Old away, that's my last presence on Reddit gone.
Honestly, I'd prefer if they just took it away. Instead of their actual approach of slowly increasing the friction one change at a time. Like when they removed private messaging from old reddit. Or when they removed the subscriber counts from subreddits.
Just put it to rest so we can remember it fondly, it doesn't need this enshittifying.
I don't disagree, the trouble is that R is still highly useful to me, and the things you mention can either be worked around or aren't too much of a hassle.
By contrast, being forced to browse the site in "New" mode would indeed be a terminal enshittification.
