I prefer long playthroughs, but I'll admit I'm not likely to go back to Zomboid until 42 hits stable. Mainly because while I loved 41, I've at this point done everything from clearing both malls to clearing the secret military base basement (in 42) and have just explored the entire map and done a bunch of personal challenge runs involving a bunch of mods.

I love this game, but want to just take a break and wait for 42 to hit stable and the mod ecosystem for 42 to stabilize. Then I'll return for another long term playthrough.

That said, if you want to do a long run, I'd recommend staying in 41 for now.

Man I figgured it woulda hit stable by now. Me and the boys are waiting on it too. IV even got my own server ready to go, but I'm likewise tired of 41

Actually, in a recent Zomboid news article, the devs say they are eyeing the latest release, Build 42.20 as being a potential stable release candidate. So it might be hitting stable later this year.
